Halloween crafts to make: spooky toilet roll spiders
Get crafty with these Halloween crafts for children and make creepy-crawly spiders from Cushelle toilet roll tubes.
Takes about 1 hour
What you’ll need
- Empty Cushelle toilet roll
- Cushelle soft facial tissue
- Craft knife
- Black paint
- Paint brush
- Bradawl or skewer
- Black pipe cleaners
- Glue
- Red pen
- White pen
- Fishing wire
- Scissors
- First make the spiders’ bodies. Get an adult to carefully cut the toilet roll tube in half. Paint each section black and then leave it to dry.
- Next, get an adult to carefully make four small holes either side of each body and poke the black pipe cleaners through, then bend the legs into shape.
- Tear the facial tissue into strips and scrunch into two small eyeballs. Glue them to the front of the spider.
- Add some red dots to the eyes with a pen, and fangs with a white pen.
Black paint can get messy if it’s not wiped up straight away! Keep some moistened kitchen paper that’s strong when wet handy. Encourage the kids to wipe up as they spill, to make the cleanup that little bit easier.
Halloween crafts to make: the haunted house
Make a spooky haunted house complete with fluffy white ghosts (scary ones, we promise!) using empty Cushelle tissue boxes and soft tissues.
What you’ll need
- 2 empty Cushelle facial tissue boxes
- Cushelle soft facial tissues
- Craft knife
- Scissors
- Ruler
- Glue
- Black paint
- Paint brush
- Craft knife
- White and black pens
- First, make the house. To do this, get an adult to carefully cut the first facial tissue box in half with a craft knife and set one half aside.
- Then glue the half-box to the top of the second empty tissue box, and leave to dry.
- Next, carefully cut a door and windows with the craft knife and paint the boxes black.
- Now make the roof. Take the other half-box and cut it open with scissors. Trim it down to a rectangular shape, and draw a zigzag edge along the top and bottom an cut it out.
- Paint the roof black and when it’s dry fold it in half and glue to the house.
- Soft Cushelle tissues make great fluffy ghosts. To make them, first tear and scrunch some tissue into little balls. Then cut squares of tissue and lay it over each ball, adding a little glue to hold them in place. Draw two eyes onto the ghosts with a black pen and then pop them inside the windows and door of the haunted house.
